Intermediate Care Therapy Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the therapy team at Tudor Court as a therapy assistant. Therapy is provided to any resident in Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton who requires a period of rehabilitation.
Unfortunately, this role does not meet the criteria required to qualify for sponsorship.
Main duties of the job
* To provide assessments and interventions, for delegated caseload of patients; with support and supervision of a qualified therapist.
* To undertake administrative and stock control duties as requested to support the therapy services.
* Attend and effectively contribute to regular meetings, including:
o Monthly speciality team meetings
o Monthly staff meetings
o Peer support meetings
o Ward handover meetings
o Champions update meeting
* Promote a positive and efficient image of the service within own and wider team
* Provide effective advice, information and support for patients and carers
* Ensure staff, patients and carers are aware of the role of therapy within own speciality area
* Overcome barriers to communication by altering style and format
* Involve patients in decision making with regards assessments and always gain informed consent
* Have a sound knowledge of specialist standardised and non-standardised assessments used within the service
* Undertake simple assessments as delegated by qualified therapist
* Demonstrate a good knowledge of medical conditions in own speciality area and how they affect day to day function
* Ensures assessments undertaken are holistic and meet standards
* Provide effective feedback of assessment findings to patient and carer
* Provide effective feedback of assessment findings to qualified therapists and wider MDT team

Person Specification
Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Experience of working in a Health or Social care setting
* Experience of working within a team
* Knowledge of OT/physiotherapy assessments and interventions
* Dealing with confrontation
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or a Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship - or equivalent experience
* Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)
* Care Certificate
Skills & Abilities
* Good communication (written and verbal skills)
* Basic IT skills
* Good organisational skills
