NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

Greater Glasgow and Clyde Learning Disabilities Service are looking to recruit to a Permanent Assistant Psychologist post at 0.8WTE in the West Dunbartonshire Learning Disability Service, 29.6 hours across Mon - Fri. The post holders will support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the service by providing psychological assessment and interventions under the weekly clinical supervision of a qualified Consultant Clinical Psychologist. In addition, they will work independently according to an agreed plan and within the overall framework of the service policies and procedures. This work will consist of therapeutic work on an individual level and within wider systems in addition to the administration and scoring of standardised neuropsychological tests. The post holders may also be involved in the preparation of identified materials for therapy sessions, the delivery of a range of psychological therapies (this may involve domiciliary visits) and attending case conferences and liaising with other professionals. Other responsibilities may include audit, service evaluation, assisting the work of qualified clinical psychologists and other professionals working within the service.

Assistant Psychologists will be part of the Learning Disability Psychology Department, made up of Consultant Clinical Psychologists, Principal Clinical Psychologists, several Assistant Psychologists and Trainee Clinical Psychologists from the West Scotland DClinPsy Programme. West Dunbartonshire Community Learning Disabilities Team is based in Clydebank and is a small multi-disciplinary team made up of Psychology, Psychiatry, Nursing, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Dietetics.

This posts cover a wide geographical area, with some areas being inaccessible via public transport, therefore having access to a car to travel during the day would be advantageous.

Applicants should have First or Upper Second Class honours degree in Psychology and be eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
