We are seeking a Financial Controller to join a large engineering services company from their offices based in Birmingham.
In this varied role, you will oversee Management Accounts for all of our head office functions including cash reporting and forecasting. Alongside this, your role will see you oversee the UK Payroll Accounting Team and some Accounts Payable initiatives. The job will involve management of UK based staff and overseeing activities completed by the India based team.
Role Responsibilities
* Overall responsibility for the preparation of management accounts for UK based Corporate Services functions. This includes 40 costs centres and cost base of over $76m.
* Liaising with the overseas FP&A team and overseeing monthly Accounts Payable reconciliation.
* Supporting the multiple Budget holders on finance matters.
* Maintenance of robust financial controls, including review of balance sheet reconciliations, using the reconciliation tool.
* Management of UK based Payroll Accounting team. This team is responsible for the monthly payroll reconciliations and costing to the UK businesses, annual review of staff cost rates, agency reconciliations and annual leave reporting.
* Review of weekly cash reports and monthly cashflow forecasts.
* Assist as required with UK – led Accounts Payable initiatives, such as expansion of purchase order usage in the UK business.
* Management and development of UK staff, and also work on ad hoc projects.
* Communication with non-financial staff, ensure that they understand and comply, as appropriate, with Group systems, procedures and policies.
Person Specification
* ACCA, CIMA or equivalent finance qualification
* Demonstrable experience of Management Accounts, including budgeting and forecasting
* Leadership experience managing multi-function finance team
* Previous experience liaising with geographically dispersed teams
* Good working knowledge of payroll accounting and Accounts Payable
Security clearance
Due to the nature of work carried out by the organisation, this role may require a level of security clearance. In this instance, any applicant would be required to provide proof of UK residency for 5 years or longer. If you are unable to provide evidence of this, you will not be able to obtain the required clearance and unable to enter the role.
Salary: £65,000 per annum
Hybrid: 2 days per week in office, 3 days remote
