The Role Reporting to the Head of Propulsion, the Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in the design, development, and integration of advanced propulsion systems and components. You will contribute from concept through to manufacture, working on complex electro-mechanical assemblies that incorporate energy storage, alternative fuels, and power delivery systems. Key Responsibilities Design and develop precision mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD (CATIA or equivalent). Support system design and integration activities for propulsion and energy solutions. Specify materials, finishes, and tolerances suitable for operation in demanding marine environments. Create detailed technical drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation. Apply first principles engineering to develop and validate mechanical designs. Optimise designs for performance, weight, and manufacturability. Conduct design reviews, testing, and validation to ensure quality and compliance with certification standards. Collaborate with electrical, manufacturing, and testing teams to ensure seamless integration. Drive continuous improvement through design innovation and new technology adoption. About You Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive, Aerospace, or a related discipline (2:1 or above), or HND with 3 years' engineering experience. Minimum 3 years' experience in a motorsport, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of precision mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing processes. Experience with Electric Drive Units (EDU), engines, or high-performance mechanical systems is desirable. Skilled in 3D CAD (CATIA V5/V6 preferred). Knowledge of testing, validation, and prototype development. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to take designs from concept to production. Excellent teamwork, communication, and organisational abilities. Capable of thriving in a dynamic, innovative engineering environment.
