We are looking for an experienced Senior Construction Manager to join our HS2 Major Projects team based in Buckinghamshire, supporting the delivery of a major programme of Civils in Calvert. Reporting into the Senior Project Manager, you will lead the safe, efficient and high‑quality delivery of construction works on site, providing strong leadership to delivery teams and subcontractors while acting as a key interface with clients and stakeholders. This is a critical leadership role, driving programme certainty, risk management, quality, and customer satisfaction through to successful handover.
Location: Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire – travel to the office required, with some remote working available. Hours: Permanent Full-time, 45 hours per week – some flexibility available if desired. Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 + private healthcare + £6.7k annual car allowance. We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Senior Construction Manager, you will take full ownership of site delivery, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, to budget, and in line with Kier's Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards.
* Lead the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of site works, ensuring full adherence to health, safety, environmental and quality standards
* Plan, manage and coordinate key resources including labour, plant and materials to achieve programme certainty and cost efficiency
* Manage and oversee site teams, subcontractors and suppliers, maintaining performance across multiple work fronts
* Drive programme certainty, risk management and buildability, supporting short‑term planning and resolving delivery issues proactively
* Ensure all delivery teams are working to the required specification and QA standards, with accurate completion, records management and successful handover
What are we looking for?
This role of Senior Construction Manager is ideal if you:
* Have proven experience delivering complex infrastructure or utilities projects, managing multiple subcontractors and work fronts
* Hold a valid CSCS card and SMSTS qualification, with sound knowledge of construction legislation and contract conditions
* Have strong programme awareness and the ability to manage risk, cost and delivery pressures on live construction sites
* Possess strong commercial awareness and a thorough understanding of health, safety and risk management requirements
* Communicate effectively and build strong relationships with clients, external stakeholders, the project team and supply chain partners
