Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Senior Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electrical systems and installations, demonstrating proficiency with both hand and power tools. This role involves working on various projects, ensuring that all electrical work is completed safely and to the highest standards.
SCOPE
* The purpose of this position is to provide on-site electrical expertise, ensuring that all electrical systems and equipment are installed, operated, and maintained in line with company standards, legal requirements, and LV/AP procedures
* The role will be responsible for carrying out electrical installation, inspection and testing duties, while ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements.
* The role requires oversight of electrical safety procedures, including acting as an Authorised Person (LV/AP) for issuing and accepting permits, isolations, and ensuring a safe system of work.
DUTIES
* Carry out electrical installation, maintenance, and testing works in compliance with BS7671, company policies, and client requirements.
* Act as LV Authorised Person (AP), responsible for electrical safety, isolation procedures, and issuing of permits-to-work.
* Ensure that safe systems of work are implemented, including RAMS, permits, and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
* Supervise and support junior electricians and subcontractors where required.
* Complete all necessary documentation, certification, and reports accurately and on time.
* Undertake fault diagnosis and implement corrective actions efficiently.
* Support project teams with technical input, ensuring high-quality workmanship and compliance with specifications.
* Contribute to site progress reporting, quality control, and snagging processes.
* Promote and maintain high standards of Health & Safety, environmental awareness, and customer service.
* Participate in toolbox talks, safe starts, and site audits to reinforce a strong safety culture.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
* City & Guilds 236 Electrical Installation Parts 1 and 2 or NVQ Level 3 equivalent.
* City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing (Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection) or willingness to complete within 6 months of appointment.
* BS7671:2018 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
* LV Authorised Person (AP) accreditation or demonstrable experience in safe systems of work for LV operations (e.g. isolations, permits-to-work).
* Up-to-date understanding of the Electricity at Work Regulations, current edition of BS 7671, and relevant Codes of Practice/guidance.
* Practical understanding of inspection, testing, verification, certification, and reporting procedures for electrical works.
* Hold a current ECS Card.
Desirable
* Experience acting as an LV Authorised Person across multiple sites.
* Knowledge of NICEIC/NAPIT certification processes.
* SSSTS / SMSTS or equivalent Health & Safety training.
* First Aid at Work certificate.
* Experience supervising or mentoring junior electricians/apprentices.
* Experience working in social housing, local authority, or commercial environments.
* Familiarity with certification software (e.g. NAPIT FastTest or equivalent).
* Knowledge of ISO systems of work and internal company procedures.
SKILLS
* Strong technical ability in electrical installation, fault-finding, testing, and maintenance across LV systems.
* Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
* Competence in producing, reviewing, and completing certification and documentation accurately.
* IT proficiency, including use of certification software, spreadsheets, and standard office applications.
* Good communication and reporting skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team, mentoring junior staff where required.
OTHER
* The ability to travel to a range of sites.
* Appreciation that there might be out of hours working, agreed in advance.
* Attendance at project, client, health and safety, and coordination meetings as required.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and training, including maintaining LV/AP status.
