An SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school based in Blackburn is seeking a dedicated and resilient Science Teacher to join their team from September. The school provides a supportive and structured environment for students who require additional behavioural and emotional support to succeed in their education.
Your new role
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible Science lessons across Key Stages (KS3/KS4 as appropriate), tailored to meet the individual needs of pupils. The role is full-time and initially offered on a temporary basis through Hays, with the potential to be ongoing for the right candidate.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Planning and delivering differentiated Science lessons
2. Supporting students to engage in learning and reach their potential
3. Managing behaviour effectively using positive strategies
4. Working collaboratively with support staff and wider school team
5. Monitoring and assessing student progress
What you'll need to succeed
6. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
7. Experience teaching Science at secondary level
8. Strong behaviour management skills
9. A patient, resilient and empathetic approach
10. Experience working with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour is desirable but not essential.
