Salary: $20,159 base salary (based on education and experience)

Qualifications
* Minimum of sixty (60) academic credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education
* Associate degree or higher
* High School Diploma or equivalent AND Ready to Work Credentials
o WIN – Copy of WIN Assessment minimum of Silver: Level 4 or higher
o Work Keys – Copy of passing scores on three areas of the Work Keys Assessment (Applied Mathematics 4, Reading for Information 4, Writing 4)
o ParaPro – Copy of passing score (minimum 456) on ParaPro, the state‑approved academic assessment
* Suitable alternatives to the above qualifications may be considered at the Board’s discretion.
Job Goal
Assist the teacher with supervision, care, and instruction of students with special needs in the general education setting. Support the implementation of instructional plans, monitor student behavior, and provide information to appropriate school personnel.
Performance Responsibilities
* Acts as a mandated reporter to ensure student safety.
* Adapts classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support classroom objectives and IEP goals.
* Administers tests, homework, and make‑up work to support student needs.
* Assists students (e.g., diapering, lifting, transition from desk to wheelchair) to attend to personal hygiene and care needs.
* Attends meetings and in‑service presentations to acquire and convey information related to job functions.
* Communicates with supervising instructional staff and a variety of healthcare professionals and support personnel to report progress or implement IEP objectives.
* Escorts students (e.g., to the bathroom, classroom, community) to ensure efficient and safe arrival.
* Implements research‑based interventions under teacher supervision to reinforce learning concepts.
* Intervenes in potential conflicts using appropriate physical and/or therapeutic approaches to diffuse confrontations and minimize disruptions.
* Monitors the student's daily schedule and behavior plan to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
* Provides instruction to the student in individual and group activities to reinforce objectives, implement IEP plans, and ensure access to the least restrictive environment.
* Supervises individual and/or groups of students in various settings (e.g., community field trips, hallways, bus loading areas, cafeteria, parking lots) to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
* Supervises and escorts the student during emergency drills or actual emergencies to maintain safety.
* Collects data on the student's IEP goals to maintain accurate records and support data‑based decision making.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

o High School Diploma or equivalent AND WIN, Work Keys, or ParaPro credentials.
