The Physics Department is looking to recruit a proactive, enthusiastic person to the role of Superintendent and Departmental Safety Officer. This senior technical leadership role is responsible for managing a small (9) technical team, ensuring robust safety governance, and contributing to the Department’s long‑term strategic plan.
Responsibilities
* Act as the Department’s lead technical authority, providing expert advice to senior management, key stakeholders and all members of the Department.
* Represent technical support at senior management and committee meetings, contributing to strategic planning and decision‑making.
* Develop and implement technical and safety strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
* Manage departmental resources effectively, including budget planning, financial oversight, and resource allocation.
* Monitor performance, risk and compliance metrics, ensuring appropriate reporting and continuous improvement.
* Be the Department’s primary contact and lead for projects with the University’s Facilities division and proactively monitor building infrastructure to maintain functionality.
