Thrive Oldham is recruiting on behalf of a well-established client in the Torfaen area for a Manual Machinist.
Job Description
We are currently looking for a Machinist/Trainee Machinist to join our facility in South Wales. The key responsibility is to work as part of a team to process products through the Machine Shop, ensuring they are produced right first time and delivered to customer specifications.
Principle Accountabilities
* Work as part of a team to achieve departmental KPIs such as Right First Time, On Time In Full, and Productivity.
* Operate manual vertical turning lathes and CNC vertical and horizontal turning lathes, following standard operating procedures.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings to produce conforming products.
* Set up tooling.
* Record key data daily, including logging production data, raising non-conformance notes, creating data records, and writing dimensional reports.
* Contribute to continuous improvement through daily TPM and 5S activities.
Candidate Skills and Experience
* Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
* High self-motivation and determination.
* GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
* Computer literate.
* Good interpersonal skills and team working.
* Excellent time management and attention to detail.
Advantages
* Experience in heavy manufacturing.
* Manual machining experience (manual and CNC).
* Ability to read engineering drawings (2D).
* Familiarity with machining special alloy materials.
* Programming experience.
* Experience with Fannuc control systems.
Additional Details
* Shift allowance of 10%.
* Shifts: 5.30-1.30 Mon to Thurs, 5.30-10.30 Fri; or 14.00-22.30 Mon to Thurs, 10.30-15.30 Fri. Future shift pattern will change to 3 shifts.
* Permanent role.
* Salary depends on experience.
