An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our innovative Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) Programme as a Research Manager. This is a pivotal role within the service, working closely with the Senior Management Team to ensure that our research activity is aligned with operational priorities, demand and capacity modelling, and national screening goals. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage research projects within the LCS Programme, ensuring high standards of governance and delivery. Work collaboratively with the LCS Senior Management Team to align research with service needs, including capacity and demand planning. Coordinate multi-disciplinary stakeholders including clinicians, academics, analysts, and operational leads. Support the development of research funding Contribute to publications, service evaluations, and data-driven improvements. Advert We are looking for a dynamic, organised, and research-focused individual with: Proven experience in managing healthcare or clinical research projects. A strong understanding of NHS systems, cancer screening, or population health. Excellent stakeholder engagement and project management skills. Ability to interpret complex data and contribute to strategic decision-making. A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field (or equivalent experience). A key function of the role will be to ensure rigour of the delivery of key projects and lead the operational management and performance of the research arm of the Lung cancer screening programme. This includes working very closely with the LCS senior management team on operational matters within the service to align with the research objectives. Including developing PID’s, project plans, QIA’s, risk/issue logs, highlight reporting on behalf of the teams and escalating, highlighting risks and obstacles. The post-holder will ensure that standard project management methodologies are applied to the project. Liaise with different disciplines to ensure that capacity is in place to meet the needs of the research and that this is efficiently utilized. Please visit our website - https://www.lhch.nhs.uk/ Please follow this link for a tour of our site - https://bit.ly/36ylsoq Detailed job description and main responsibilities · Work closely with the LCS Senior Management Team to align research with demand and capacity models specific to the LCS service. · To support research alongside the complex service and business planning process to deliver the LCS activity plan and other national initiatives. · To perform the role of project manager on LCS research projects which involves developing good working relationships with Departments and Directorates, including clinical, research and managerial leads. · To ensure the application of research project management documentation for all identified research projects within the Lung cancer screening programme, supporting with their completion. · To develop, and manage research project plans, ensuring adequacy of governance and control arrangements are in place. · To manage the associated research project risk registers. · To identify the benefits associated with research project activities, work with wider LCS clinical and management teams to develop appropriate measures and performance monitoring to ensure key deliverables are met. · To provide evidence based best practice to support research service improvements and test proposed changes to ensure successful delivery and improved performance. · Provide practical support to clinical and non-clinical teams to take forward research delivery improvement, innovation and new ways of working. · Promote whole system approach to research delivery improvement and innovation ensuring that the relevant stakeholders are engaged and are motivated to deliver the change. · Facilitate the research team’s ability to complete the research projects to time and target · Ensure effective cross-functional teamwork among project team members including both internal and external stakeholders. · Manage and track project resource needs and contribute to contingency planning for key resources. · Monitor research project schedule and scope to ensure both remain on track. Implement and follow pre-approved procedures for any deviations. · Monitor and control the risk plan and provide on-going oversight to ensure mitigation plans are in place and working. Escalate risks newly identified by the project team to stakeholders. · Ensure that internal project review meetings are conducted as needed. Depending on size and scope of project, lead meetings as appropriate. · To be responsible for ensuring that any manual data collection required for the research is completed within set deadlines. · Review performance management across research project team working with colleagues to embed a culture of continual assessment and improvement where required. · Any other duties at the request of the Chief Investigators and Research management group within the scope of the post.
