Role Title: Mental Health and Wellbeing Coach
Location: Yale
Contract Type: Full time / Fixed Term until March 2026
Salary: £29,935 - £32,608
We currently have a vacancy for a Mental Health and Wellbeing Coach to work on our Yale site.
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Coach will be responsible for supporting the engagement, development and progression of learners into learning. They will equip learners to settle into their environment and identify and overcome emotional and well-being barriers that may prevent them from active engagement.
They will manage a specific identified caseload of learners across all sites of the college, providing appropriate support and coaching. The role will involve direct coaching, and referral of learners to college counsellors and other appropriate agencies where necessary.
Under the direction of the Mental Health & WellBeing Lead, the resilience coach role will work in close liaison with the Mental Health and Wellbeing Coordinator, Wellbeing Advisors, Progress coaches and Student Services.
In addition, all Mental Health and Wellbeing Coaches will be based across all sites to provide a point of contact for students and staff on a 1:1 basis offering coaching, guidance and support.
To ensure accurate recording of data and collate reports to provide clear audit trails to satisfy both internal/external auditors and inspections.
Essential Requirements
· Good standard of education (GCSE Grade C and above in literacy and numeracy)
· Basic Counselling Qualification
· Excellent personal resilience
· Empathy when dealing with learners
· Able to deal with sensitive situations
· Understanding of safeguarding legislation.
· Proven experience of working in a relevant area
· Experience of working with young people
· Good knowledge of support agencies for all learners
· Experience of supporting learners with mental health issues
· Well-developed ICT skills, including Microsoft package and Google
