Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulatory Officer - Field Based - 31634
Overview
The Regulatory Officer role will be based in the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) team within Batteries, WEEE and Shipments, part of Environmental Markets and Regulation. We’re a national team with officers based across England. National travel and overnight stays will be required. We regulate a range of businesses operating within the Producer Responsibility regime to ensure producers, reprocessors and exporters of waste comply with their responsibilities.
Responsibilities
* Undertake audits (both on site and virtual).
* Take appropriate enforcement action when necessary.
* Disrupt non-compliance and support continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
* Collate and analyse complex data to support evidence-based decisions on regulatory compliance.
* Handle confidential and sensitive information in line with data protection guidelines.
What you’ll do
The role is varied, vital and challenging. You will work as part of a dispersed team while also being self-motivated and disciplined. You will regulate producers, reprocessors and exporters under the environmental regulatory regime, contributing to compliance and improvement in the sector.
Experience and skills
* Effective, organised and able to prioritise; rational and composed.
* IT/computer literate; comfortable with numbers and large data sets.
* Passionate about the environment and willing to learn about environmental regulation and enforcement.
* Ability to handle confrontational situations and adapt your communication style to different audiences.
* Ability to integrate into a team and record information accurately.
Qualifications and requirements
* Full UK clean driving licence is essential.
* Waste industry or regulatory experience is not necessary as full training is provided.
