Job Description At Wavenet, we’re looking for a Backend .NET Developer with strong SQL skills and a passion for backend development to join our team in Sevenoaks. If you're someone who thrives on solving complex data problems and enjoys working across a mix of modern and legacy technologies, this could be the role for you. In this role, you'll work on backend services, scheduled tasks, and custom tools that ensure data flows reliably between systems. You'll help us build, maintain, and improve applications that power key operations—sometimes enhancing legacy apps, other times developing microservices from scratch. We operate in a fast-paced environment with tight testing and release schedules. That means attention to detail, a sense of ownership, and the ability to adapt quickly are essential. What You’ll Be Doing Build and maintain backend .NET applications, microservices, and scheduled jobs. Optimise and debug complex SQL queries and database logic. Manage and improve data syncing, transformation, and integrity across systems. Troubleshoot and resolve backend and data-related issues. Tackle both short-term and long-term projects, shifting priorities as needed. Maintain and modernise legacy applications and processes. Work closely with QA and DevOps to ensure timely, high-quality releases. Document key systems, workflows, and application behaviour. Qualifications What We’re Looking For Proven experience in backend development with Microsoft .NET (Framework and/or Core). Strong proficiency in SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server). Ability to build modular, scalable components that integrate with larger systems. Skilled in debugging and resolving data issues and production problems. Comfortable working in both C# and VB.NET environments. Flexible and adaptable with a solution-focused mindset. Aware of the importance of release cycles and testing deadlines. Bonus Skills Experience with GitLab or other version control systems. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments. Knowledge of ORMs like Entity Framework. Exposure to frontend technologies like JavaScript, jQuery, or Svelte (nice to have, not required).
