CXK is the lead provider of Personal Careers Guidance to young people in schools and specialist centres across the Southeast, delivering independent Personal Careers Guidance via the CXK Young People’s Careers Service. We use a variety of creative and innovative approaches to deliver this.
The Team
We are a diverse and welcoming team of advisers delivering personalised, client-centered, personal careers guidance. We provide one-to-one sessions, group guidance, parents and options evenings, talks and assemblies, with minimal admin and an inclusive service with individualised action plans and visual career maps where appropriate. We follow the CDI code of ethics and best practice for Action Planning.
The team is led by Chris Targett RCDP, who is also the Chair of the Careers Writers Association and co-author of a CDI-published book on Career Development and Inclusive Practice.
The Role
The Careers Adviser will travel across Berkshire to a broad range of school and college settings, delivering inclusive Personal Careers Guidance, assemblies, and drop-in sessions as required. Each student and setting is unique, so this role suits someone who enjoys travel, varied locations, working with diverse groups, and educating people of all abilities.
You will liaise with Careers Leaders and senior school/college staff to arrange and deliver activities during the school day. Most delivery is between 8:30am and 4pm, with some travel outside these times and occasional attendance at parents’ and options evenings; time off in lieu is provided where applicable.
Skills and Knowledge

* Level 6 (or above) Careers Guidance Qualification
* Full, clean UK Driver’s Licence with access to a vehicle
* Experience delivering CEIAG in schools/colleges, face-to-face with young people
* Willingness to deliver activities during school timetables and occasional evenings
* Knowledge of Post-16 and Post-18 education and training routes for young people with and without additional needs
* Adept at juggling activities, travel, emails and admin; balancing school site work with home-based prep
* Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
* Commitment to undertake necessary training for the role
