Overview
IPS Employment Specialists work with clients, health professionals, service providers and employers to support a person’s journey into sustainable paid employment, improving social inclusion and wellbeing. The role involves managing a caseload of clients with mental health support needs and delivering the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach with person-centred guidance and strong relationships with local employers to enable suitable employment. Training in the IPS approach will be provided.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of a community mental health team and/or early intervention psychosis team or Improving Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) team, maintaining integrated relationships and a holistic approach to recovery through employment.
* Deliver the IPS process, supporting clients from vocational profiling through to the point where in-work support is no longer required.
* Provide one-to-one guidance with clients and employers to identify suitable employment opportunities and coordinate in-work support as needed.
* Manage a caseload of clients, tracking progress and adjusting plans to meet individual preferences and needs.
* Operate primarily in community settings or clinical hubs; limited/home working remains minimal.
* Support clients through the six key stages of the employment journey: outreach/referral, vocational profiling, action planning, job search, job placement and in-work support withdrawal.

* Willingness to be trained in the IPS approach and to apply a person-centred, evidence-based method.
* Ability to work in a peripatetic role with travel to community locations and clinical hubs.
* Commitment to a holistic approach to recovery and collaboration with health and social care teams.
