Job Title: SHEQ Advisor – Highways Maintenance (Contract)
Location: Yorkshire (site-based)
Contract: Initial 3 months (likely to extend)
Start: Immediate / ASAP
Rate: Competitive day rate
Role Overview
We require an experienced SHEQ Advisor to support highways maintenance works on high-speed road networks across Yorkshire. This is a hands-on, site-based role, working directly with operational teams in live traffic environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver regular SHEQ / OSH site inspections
* Maintain a visible, practical safety presence on site
* Engage and influence operatives and supervisors on safe systems of work
* Review and advise on RAMS and task briefings
* Support incident and near-miss investigations and action close-out
* Provide pragmatic, solutions-led safety advice
* Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, company procedures, and client standards
* Produce clear site reports and documentation
Required Experience
* Proven experience as a SHEQ / Health & Safety Advisor within highways or civils
* Strong knowledge of highways maintenance and live, high-speed road environments
* Confident operating independently on site
* Strong communication and influencing skills
* Practical, delivery-focused approach
Qualifications
* NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent)
* IOSH membership (TechIOSH / GradIOSH preferred)
* CSCS card
* Full UK driving licence
