Production Engineering Section
A permanent vacancy has arisen within our client's Production Engineering Section for a Senior Environmental & Compliance Advisor.
The successful candidate's main focus will be to provide expert environmental and technical advice to ensure that our client's site complies with all applicable environmental regulations and to lead, drive, and support business operating improvements to achieve their multiple objectives in the drive to Net Zero. This includes identifying key areas for business improvements to reduce the carbon footprint and overheads, liaising with stakeholders, and raising business cases to support upgrades or replacements of plant equipment and services.
Salary
Up to £55,000 (Dependent on experience)
Hours of Work
7am - 4pm (Monday to Thursday), 7am - 12pm Fridays
Main Duties
1. Ensure all aspects of Environmental, Safety, and Quality are documented and embedded into processes.
2. Liaise with Environmental Associations and regulatory agencies to stay informed about changes in legislation affecting air conditioning design and manufacture.
3. Support understanding and implementation of EU/UK directives among companies.
4. Provide technical expertise in interpreting relevant directives to the business.
5. Assist operations management in maintaining environmental compliance and investigating issues.
6. Advise on product and process design issues as a member of the Engineering team.
7. Conduct environmental investigations and manage waste acceptance programs.
8. Coordinate site inspections.
9. Provide compliance support, planning, and reporting.
10. Handle hazardous materials, chemicals, and toxins according to standards.
11. Support ISO14001 and other relevant standards.
12. Manage energy-saving schemes (ESOS and SECR).
13. Investigate benefits from government initiatives and grants.
14. Maintain plans, permits, and SOPs (effluent discharge, emissions).
15. Support the company's Net Zero journey.
16. Interpret data on water, waste, energy, and refrigerant quotas.
17. Serve as the point of contact for MACE energy supply broker.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
* Preferably 5+ years of experience in environment or compliance roles.
* Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent.
* Experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Project management experience.
* Excellent communication and meeting skills.
* Working knowledge of ISO14001 with auditing experience.
