Are you looking for work in a PRU setting?I have a PRU based in Dudley looking for a long-term member of staff to support their primary cohort of students. This setting is based within Sedgley and supports students at risk of, or have been, excluded. These pupils are across KS1, 2 and 3. The majority come from Dudley schools but some travel from outside the borough. The centre also has an outreach programme and supports mainstream primary settings across LA.The school is looking for two members of staff, one to work in KS1&2 and the second to work in KS3. With a curriculum and ethos based around communication, consistency and nurturing, they are perhaps not what you expect a PRU/short stay setting to be like. Clear expectations are made from the start and many pupils that attend this setting go settle back into the mainstream or move to a more appropriate setting with great success. The setting of course provides an education to these pupils, but a priority is unlocking what the barrier is to their learning. Keen to build up resilience, confidence and a hardworking attitude, the curriculum involves outside learning and opportunities that aren't available within the mainstream, such as vocational studies. With a presence in the local community, students are shown the benefit of 'being a better person than yesterday'.
