Overview
Your role is the day‑to‑day management of Clinical Coding staff, ensuring all coding for SUS deadlines and Payment by Results is completed accurately and on time. You will provide operational delivery support, both generally and for time‑limited projects, to the Clinical Coding Manager and collaborate with the Management team to liaise with clinicians and Trust staff on coding queries.
Responsibilities
* Manage the clinical coding team to maintain operational effectiveness and a high standard of work.
* Support day‑to‑day processes for the operational delivery of the coding service, including managing Teams channels, reviewing rotas, and ensuring adequate staffing.
* Extract and analyse highly complex patient data, identifying and selecting diagnosis/procedure codes in line with national guidelines.
* Manage all clinical coding queries and liaise with clinical and non‑clinical staff to resolve them.
* Plan own workload and that of the coding team to achieve team objectives.
* Keep updated on current coding issues, developments and national guidance.
* Create an environment that supports further knowledge and skill acquisition for staff.
* Ensure coding is completed accurately, timely, and in accordance with national and contractual mandates, delivering regular updates to the Clinical Coding Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
Accredited ACC Clinical Coder with experience across a wide range of specialties for an acute NHS Trust. Proven ability to extract and analyse complex patient data, apply national guidelines, and manage operational delivery and coding queries.
Requirements
* B6 Clinical Coding Delivery Manager level of responsibility within the NHS.
* Strong leadership, communication and planning skills.
* Accreditation or equivalent qualifications in clinical coding.
