Calex is a specialist training and consultancy organisation contracted to several market-leading automotive manufacturers. We have seen tremendous growth in our business in recent years and with that comes the opportunity to increase our workforce, so we are seeking to recruit an experienced Instructional Designer to join the team based in the Midlands.
Working within the Technical Learning & Development Team, you will join a team that ranges from technical trainers, who know everything there is to know about the vehicles we sell, through to other instructional learning designers to create engaging online learning that will be delivered to retail colleagues across the globe, via the Learning Management System.
The learning you design will be required in many different formats, and it will be your job to take the specifications and work with the stakeholders to deliver their desired outcomes while sharing your experience to help them ensure the end user receives first-class content. If you have previously designed eLearning content within the automotive industry or a technical type of industry, then this is the role for you where you can put this experience to good use and make a difference from day one, not being afraid to ask questions so that you can deliver a great product at pace.
Role Responsibilities
* Experience of taking learning competencies and defining learning activities required to achieve them
* Proficient in storyboarding to pre-visualize the development of eLearning, videos and animations
* Experience in the development & delivery of Virtual Training
* Experience in Learning Design and the delivery of practical activities to simplify and convey complex technologies
* Ability to develop relevant classroom and practical activities that engage participants delivering ‘back to work’ messages
* Proficient at developing Technical Training Content ranging from Basic e.g. Service & Maintenance, through to Advanced e.g. Diagnostics
* Utilise CAD data and software tools to create graphics/animations to support subject matter
* Ability to manage own workload and priorities in order to deliver agreed learning assets in line with agreed timing
* Uses ability & initiative to engage with Engineering team and other personnel to research and source data/information as required
* Ability to engage with Peers via peer reviews, Teams and F2F collaboration to ensure fit of materials with existing Technical Learning assets and to ensure aligned approach
* To pilot training modules that support learner journey objectives and training deliverables
* Ensure quality and relevance of content is achieved and supports Learner Journey outcomes

About you
* Have a strong ‘Customer First’ ethic
* Clear understanding of High-Voltage systems and safe working practices
* Competent in MS software packages
* Experience as a Technical Training Developer with other Automotive OEMs
* Knowledgeable of Global technical competencies (in-retailer)
* Knowledgeable in L&D methodologies (competencies, adult learning principles)
* Cross functional collaborator
* Resilient and enthusiastic, an individual able to deliver results under pressure
* Ability to work both in teams and in isolation
* Experience with structured authoring tools/XML in a development environment
* Good awareness of retailer business objectives
* Have appreciation of products, technologies, strategy
* Achieved a qualification in OEM or industry Trainer Accreditation
Salary & Benefits:Up to £50,000 dependant on experience,25 Days Annual Leave, plus Bank Holidays, Calex Employee Benefits Package (inc. High Street Discounts, Online GP, Welfare Scheme).
Workplace Location:Coventry / Midlands area. Ideally you will live in or be able to commute to these areas, as you will be expected to travel to the office regularly.
