Portsmouth Water is excited to announce an opening for a Senior Process Scientist in our Compliance Department. As an integral member of our team, you will monitor water quality and ensure compliance with Water Quality Regulations. You will collaborate with Operations and Water Quality Departments to optimise treatment processes, reduce waste, and support ongoing improvements, ensuring reliable, high-quality drinking water for our customers.
What will you be doing?
* Monitoring and enhancing water treatment operations to meet internal and regulatory standards, maximising performance and quality.
* Collaborating with field staff to optimise treatment processes and ensure compliance.
* Providing guidance and support to the Process Scientist team.
* Conducting process audits across water treatment facilities, reservoirs, and networks for improvement opportunities.
* Investigating water quality issues, producing reports with recommendations for remedial actions.
* Supporting the implementation of operational methods, process optimisation, and investment planning.
* Generating data reports to support decision-making and collaborating with stakeholders.
* Maintaining critical documentation such as Site Parameter Sheets.
* Conducting water quality risk assessments and advising on operational activities during quality events.
* Participating in site trials and pilot studies.
What do you need?
* Strong understanding of the UK water supply regulatory framework.
* Experience in data collection, analysis, and scientific investigation.
* Advanced IT skills, especially in Excel.
* High mathematical proficiency.
* Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently and in teams.
* Strong time and people management skills.
* Degree in science, engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Experience in water treatment processes.
* Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
* Full driving licence for site visits.
* National Water Hygiene certification.
