Role: Lead Echo Physiologist Location: The Wellington Hospital, London Contract Type: Permanent, full-time at 37.5 hours per week Salary Range: Competitive dependent upon skills and experience We’re looking for a Lead Echo Physiologist to join our team at HCA within The Wellington Hospital. As the successful candidate, you will provide specialist clinical knowledge and skills in Echocardiography and deliver expert care for patients undergoing diagnosis and treatment in the Cardiology Department. You will work in cooperation with the Cardiac Service Manager and Principal Cardiac Physiologist for physiological sciences to ensure operational delivery of the highest standards of patient care in both standard and advanced echocardiography. You will also maintain a high standard of clinical practice and will act as a role model for colleagues within the Cardiology department The Facility The Wellington Hospital has over four decades of expertise; providing the highest level of care for patients who are looking for the best treatment in key areas of healthcare, including: neurosurgery, spinal surgery, cardiac care, orthopaedics, acute neurological rehabilitation, gynaecology and cancer care. In our 50-bed Acute Neurological Rehabilitation Unit we care for patients with a wide range of complex neurological conditions. And we're supported by the UK’s largest private intensive care unit. We also offer the latest cancer and robotic surgery treatments, including electrochemotherapy, HIPEC and the da Vinci Robot. Having the largest neurosciences unit in London means we're able to carry out advanced spinal surgery, intracranial and peripheral nerve surgery as well as pioneering neurosurgery. Duties & Responsibilities Independently run transthoracic echocardiogram clinics Run the department quality assessment program Work closely with the Medical Lead of Echocardiography and other Consultants. Manage & organise the echocardiogram leave calendar and arrange cover when necessary Perform a wide range of non-invasive procedures including one or all of the following fields; Stress testing, tilt testing, respiratory function testing, BP and HR ambulatory monitoring Analyse and interpret real time results and communicate findings to relevant team members and cardiologist Monitor and respond to changes in the patients’ clinical status Provide expert and specialist advice to patients, colleagues and clinicians Act autonomously to deliver appropriate and individualised patient care at all times Provide technical cover to all areas of the Clinical Physiology service (including being a part of the Echocardiogram on-call rota) Support the Department Manager with the day to day running of the department At HCA UK we care about what you care about. What you’ll bring: BSE accreditation (or equivalent) is essential Member of RCCP desirable Substantial post qualification experience of working within a cardiology unit Experience in all forms of echocardiography (e.g. trans-oesophageal) is desirable In possession of or working towards attaining Intermediate Life Support status Confident communicator with high levels of written and spoken English Working knowledge of IT systems, such as Microsoft Office and Excel Previous experience of working within a private hospital is desirable Why HCA UK?
