Ergonomist
Line Up is hiring an Ergonomist on a contract basis until December 2026 to work within the Manufacturing Engineering department of a wing manufacturing facility. The role involves influencing and driving ergonomic improvements to enhance both human well‑being and manufacturing efficiency.
Location: Broughton, Flintshire – fully onsite
Hours: 35 per week
Hourly Rate: Discussed upon application
Clearance: BPSS required to start
Responsibilities
* Increase efficiency and minimise the negative impact of work packages on both humans and manufacturing systems.
* Influence product development in line with ‘design for manufacture’ principles.
* Develop and drive strategic plans for ergonomic risk‑reduction interventions.
* Identify ergonomic risk factors at the workplace and propose solutions to mitigate risks.
* Apply theory, principles, data and methods to design solutions that optimise human health and overall production system efficiency.
* Apply national laws, regulations, and standards related to Human Factors and Ergonomics.
* Support human‑factor improvement projects with stakeholders (Quality, H&S, Design, Production, Manufacturing Engineering).
* Define integration of a User‑Centered Design process with a holistic, systematic analysis.
Qualifications
* Degree (or higher) in Ergonomics / Human Factors from an accredited CIEHF higher education body.
* Accreditation or evidence of work toward Registered Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF) or equivalent.
* Knowledge of cognitive sciences and applied psychology (cognitive workload, reasoning, learning, human error, work analysis).
* Strong background in human‑factor sciences, work physiology, biomechanics, and cognition.
* Experience identifying ergonomic risk factors in the workplace and proposing mitigation solutions to management.
* Experience in all aspects of ergonomics, including assessment of working methods, relevant standards, risk ratings, assessment tools, technical report writing, and development of technical solutions.
* Experience anticipating risk in new designs and processes.
* Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards in the workplace.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
