Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Functional Safety Subject Matter Expert – BMS to be based at our customer’s site in Whitely.
Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.
The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Functional Safety SME to lead the
development and integration of Battery Management Systems (BMS) in compliance with
ISO 26262 and other relevant safety standards. The ideal candidate will serve as the technical
authority on functional safety within the BMS domain, ensuring robust safety concepts,
architectures, and validation strategies across the product lifecycle.
Area of Responsibility
Lead functional safety activities for BMS development in accordance with ISO 26262
(ASIL levels A–D)
·Define and maintain safety goals, safety requirements, and safety concepts for BMS
components and systems
·Conduct hazard analysis and risk assessments (HARA), FMEA, FTA, and other safety
analyses
·Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, systems, validation) to
ensure safety compliance
·Support safety case development and documentation for internal and external audits
·Interface with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and regulatory bodies on safety-related matters
·Guide verification and validation strategies for safety mechanisms and diagnostics
·Mentor engineering teams on functional safety principles and best practices
Knowledge / Experience
·Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or
related field
·Strong experience in automotive systems, with a focus on BMS and functional
safety
·Deep understanding of ISO 26262, IEC 61508, and related standards
·Proven experience in safety analysis techniques (HARA, FMEA, FTA, DFA)
·Familiarity with automotive development tools (., DOORS, Medini, PTC Integrity)
·Strong communication and documentation skills
