This role predominantly covers paediatric cases, with training in the adult service also provided for resilience purposes.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities Will Include:
* Forensic examinations and obtaining forensic exhibits.
* Developing forensic strategies according to FFLM guidelines.
* Working in partnership with external MDTs and Police.
* Point of contact for Police and Social Services regarding referral pathways.
* Undertaking holistic assessments including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding.
* Supporting quality improvement of the service.
* Working under the Forensic Science Regulator requirements.
* Obtaining consent for health and forensic procedures.

Job description
Sexual Offences Examiner/Experienced Forensic Physician -
Location: The Bridgeway, Penrith. Travel required, especially in first 6 months for training at Leeds paediatric centre.
Rota: 9.30-3.30 Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri (flexible days). Mixture of on-call and office work.
This role offers a unique environment, flexible rota, and mentorship. GMC registration required. No support for work visas. Travel and training days are reimbursed.

Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential):
* GMC-registered Doctor
* Female applicants only, due to occupational requirements under the Sex Discrimination Act
* UK driving license and access to a vehicle
* Advanced DBS and Level 2 Police vetting; residency in UK for 3 years
* Medical Indemnity
Desirable qualifications include a Diploma in Legal Medicine and membership of the Faculty for Forensic and Legal Medicine.
Experience (Essential):
* Minimum 3+ years relevant post-Foundation experience
* Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and experience in sexual health, paediatrics, GP, or Obs/Gynae settings
