Pay rate: £37 per hour
We are recruiting for a Special Educational Needs Coordinator based in South Yorkshire. In this role, you will play a crucial role in supporting settings to effectively meet the needs of children with additional needs. This is a non-case holding role.
You will ensure parents receive the information, advice, and support they need to participate in the SEN decision-making process. You will ensure parents are closely involved throughout and that their insights inform actions taken.
The successful candidate must have experience of improving practice to support children with SEND in an early years provision. Recent experience as an SENCO is desirable. This role has been created to cover maternity leave and requires an immediate start. The successful candidate must have a full UK driving licence with business insurance.
Essential to this role
1. Qualifications/Professional membership
o Educated to degree level (or equivalent) or relevant experience within early years or a related children’s services field.
o Evidence of continuous professional development
2. Knowledge and Experience
o Recent experience as a SENCO
o Knowledge of strategies and interventions used to support young children with special educational needs
o Experience supporting practitioners to be upskilled to deliver the best outcomes for children with additional needs
o Knowledge of legislation and legal requirements related to Special Educational Needs
o Knowledge of statutory requirements for children with Special Educational Needs
o Knowledge of the national agenda for SEND
In this role, you will
1. Deliver effective advice and guidance to settings, upskilling and empowering practitioners to meet the needs of all children through inclusive learning environments and practices.
2. Provide targeted support to develop and improve inclusive provision and practice, promoting the best outcomes for children.
3. Support the design and delivery of bespoke training packages tailored to settings across the locality, collaborating with multi-agency professionals.
4. Create and strengthen links between settings and services within the Local Authority and wider community, such as health services, social care, and charitable organizations supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
5. Represent the service in forums and panels to advocate for settings and children, sharing intelligence as appropriate.
6. Support area-based initiatives to accelerate the progress of children with special educational needs, under the direction of the Team Leader.
7. Assist in planning future provision and projects to raise attainment for children with special educational needs.
8. Investigate and challenge concerns of inequity/discrimination professionally, focusing on restorative practices.
9. Ensure children’s safety by sharing information with appropriate agencies and taking timely action in line with policies.
10. Comply with all county council policies and promote equal opportunities.
