Summary / Responsibilities
The successful applicant will join an integrated team of Neonatologists at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The post is based at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and forms part of a larger team including 21 Consultants (19 NHS including neonatal transport and 2 Academic), 1 Associate Specialist, 2 Specialty Doctors and 12 middle grade Trainees including neonatal grid and SPIN trainees. The Nottingham Neonatal Service serves well over 10,000 births per year in Nottingham and provides regional services to the EM-ODN with approximately 32,000 births across the region, admitting over 1,400 babies per year and providing over 3,500 intensive care days. The service provides regional neonatal surgical and tertiary medical neonatal intensive care services.
Nottingham’s two Neonatal Units are equipped with state-of-the-art resources and are supported by pharmacy, dietetics, physiotherapy, paediatric radiology and neuro-radiology, with access to paediatric specialist opinions through the Nottingham Children’s Hospital. The service operates across both campuses with shared staff, guidelines, education, clinical research and governance, and maintains a single entity through joint initiatives such as the Passport to Health Scheme and annual reporting. The department prides itself on competency-based practice and a strong nursing structure.
The position is suitable for either an experienced Neonatologist with a CCT in Paediatrics (Neonatal Medicine) or equivalent, or a senior trainee within 6 months of CCT in Paediatrics (Neonatal Medicine) or equivalent. The post is full time or maximum part-time; part-time applicants will be considered.
Qualifications
* Appropriate experience in neonatology and either CCST/CCT in Paediatrics (Neonatal Medicine) or within 6 months of CCT or equivalent.
* Full/part-time flexibility as stated.
* Ability to work within an integrated, multi-disciplinary team.
The Nottingham Neonatal Service serves well over 10,000 Nottingham births per year and regional EM-ODN coverage with tertiary work from around 32,000 births annually. The service admits over 1,400 babies per year, providing more than 3,500 intensive care days.
