St Thomas More is a good school (Ofsted 2022) committed to high standards of growth and professional development. The school is popular—always oversubscribed beyond our admission limit—and well respected in the local community. We are a successful school with a large sixth form located near Willenhall, with easy access to the M6 motorway network.
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Teacher of Science, ideally with a specialism in Physics. This vacancy presents a unique opportunity due to a colleague relocating. For a newly qualified teacher, this would be an excellent start to your teaching career. For more experienced colleagues, there are varied development opportunities and rewards, including potential pastoral roles.
As KS5 Curriculum & Progress Lead for KS5 A Level Science, the successful candidate will:
1. Take responsibility for the teaching schedule and schemes of learning.
2. Model effective teaching and learning to lead development.
3. Take responsibility for assessment and monitoring within KS5 A Level Sciences.
You will join an experienced team of qualified practitioners who work collaboratively. Science is enjoyed across all year groups and remains a popular A-level choice. The department is well-resourced, supported by skilled technicians, and each teacher has their own large laboratory. Our focus on engagement and practical skills has fostered enthusiastic participation, aiming to nurture the scientists of the future.
In return, our school offers a welcoming and inclusive environment with a culture of openness and transparency. We highly value staff wellbeing and provide various support benefits. You will receive tailored support, mentoring, and development, including training linked to NPQML and NPQSL, with further CPD supported by the diocese and local SCITT providers. We promote career progression for teachers at all levels.
St Thomas More Catholic School is a special place where students are friendly, enthusiastic, and eager to learn. Staff are caring, supportive, and dedicated to unlocking each student’s potential. If you are passionate about Science and committed to student success, we want to hear from you!
