Supporting the delivery of our various construction projects while working towards an SVQ in Bricklaying at SCQF Level 6. \n\nThis apprenticeship follows the principle of âEarn While You Learnâ, offering you the opportunity to gain practical experience and formal qualifications simultaneously.\n\n ⢠Learn to mix mortar and cement correctly and practice laying bricks, blocks and stones in patterns.\n\n⢠Develop skills in using specialised tools and equipment, such as trowels, spirit levels and brick hammers\n\n⢠Assist in measuring and marking areas for brickwork while learning building plans\n\n⢠Learn about different types of bonds and their applications, and assist in cutting and shaping bricks and blocks to fit around windows, doors and other openings\n\n⢠Develop an understanding of building regulations and construction standards, whilst learning about different types of insulation and damp-proof courses\n\n⢠Adhering to strict health and safety protocols on-site and in college environments\n\n⢠Working effectively with other trades to ensure smooth project progression\n\n⢠Developing problem-solving skills to address unforeseen challenges during construction\n\n⢠Progressively taking on more responsibility as skills and knowledge expand\n\n⢠Balancing on-site practical work with off-site study to achieve the SVQ qualification\n\n⢠Contributing to the companyâs commitment to sustainability by minimising waste and using eco-friendly materials where possible While there are no formal academic requirements, we seek candidates who are passionate about construction, with a genuine interest in bricklaying. \n\nThis apprenticeship combines practical training with college attendance,providing the skills and knowledge needed to become a skilled tradesperson.\n\nSuccessful candidates must obtain a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card to work on Ashleigh sites, and we will guide you through this process, including the mandatory Health, Safety and Environment test.\n\nThis qualification is widely recognised throughout the UK construction industry.
