Job Title: Principal EC&I EngineerLocation: Rosyth, Plymouth, Bristol + Hybrid Working ArrangementsCompensation: Up to £69,555 + BenefitsRole Type: Full time / PermanentRole ID: SF63671Our Client is working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join them, you can play your part as a Principal Electrical Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer at one of their sites at Rosyth, Bristol, or Plymouth.The roleAs a Principal EC&I Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll play a key role in a growing multi-disciplinary team within the Electrical Engineering Group (EEG). You'll work alongside a supportive network of electrical and electronic engineers, sharing best practices and developing professionally.
Your main responsibilities will include delivering electrical and electronic aspects of marine system design, ensuring compliance with legislation, and managing system integration across electrical, electronic, combat, and automation systems-defining interfaces across disciplines effectively.Ensure that the technical requirements produced at product and sub-system levels meet the customers' requirements and are able to verified and validated successfully.Developing Electrical/Electronic engineering design solutions for a variety of different platforms across the full Engineering Lifecycle. This will include substantiating the integrity and performance of new system designs within their operating environments.Provide electrical & electronic design support by preparing and checking design documentation, reviews, estimates and schedules, also, in support of tender responses requiring design input. Supervising, planning and controlling work to time, cost and quality.Technical Authority for complex multi discipline tasks and projects.
You will produce, review, and approve calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation and technical reports, in accordance with project requirements.This role is full time 37 hours and will be based at one of our locations: Rosyth, Bristol, or Plymouth. The role offers hybrid working arrangements.Essential experience of the Principal EC&I EngineerHigh level of developed knowledge as the role is directly accountable for design development and determining solutions to problems and issues within the specialist subject area.The ideal candidate will be a proven Principal Electrical/Electronic Design Engineer or Senior Engineer ready to take the next step with significant experience in overseeing projects and skilled in supporting and developing less experienced team members.Experience working on UK naval marine shipbuilding projects or defence related design experience, but this is not essential. Electrical & Electronics experience in other industries would be considered including facilities, Oil & Gas and AviationExperience of operating in a defence or high safety integrity environmentProven experience of relevant industry standardsExperience of all phases of the engineering lifecycle and configuration control systemsQualifications for the Principal EC&I EngineerQualified to degree level, or HNC/HND equivalent, coupled with significant experience in the relevant engineering discipline.Ideally, you will be a member of a relevant institution (e.g.
RINA, IET, IMechE, IMarEst etc.) and hold or working towards Chartered or Incorporated status or you will have significant demonstrable engineering experience and capable of registration with the Engineering Council at CEng level.Security ClearanceThe successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.Many of the positions within our Client's company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
