Base pay range
Consultant Psychiatrist – Falmer Ward (Inpatient), Mill View Hospital, Hove
£109,725 – £145,478 per year | Full time (10 PAs) | Permanent
What we’re looking for
We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join Falmer Ward, a 20-bed acute adult inpatient unit at Mill View Hospital in Hove. You’ll provide senior medical leadership and work with a committed multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care for adults experiencing acute mental health difficulties.
You’ll share our values of compassion, accountability and optimism, and bring excellent clinical skills, sound judgement and a collaborative approach. You’ll help shape the ward’s therapeutic environment and play an active role in driving continuous improvement across our acute services.

About the role
You’ll work with the ward’s experienced multidisciplinary team, which includes a 0.7 WTE SAS doctor, resident trainees, nurses, occupational therapists and psychologists.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing psychiatric assessment and treatment for voluntary and detained patients
* Leading ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings
* Acting as Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act
* Supervising junior doctors and supporting medical education
* Contributing to clinical governance, service development and quality improvement
You’ll collaborate closely with the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team, community mental health services and acute partners to support safe, effective patient flow.
