About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen team at a modern, purpose-built care home that recently opened in 2025.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping a high-quality dining experience that enhances the wellbeing and daily lives of residents.
You will take full responsibility for the kitchen operation, ensuring every meal is nutritious, appetising, and tailored to individual dietary requirements. Working closely with care staff, youll help create a positive and engaging dining environment where residents preferences and needs are always prioritised.
Location - Borehamwood, Hertfordshire (WD6)
Salary - £40,000 £42,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours - 40 hours per week
Contract - Permanent
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver a varied menu catering to diverse dietary needs (including vegetarian, diabetic, and soft diets)
Maintain exceptional standards of food quality, taste, and presentation
Lead, motivate, and develop the kitchen team
Ensure strict adherence to food hygiene and safety regulations
Manage stock, ordering, and budgets while minimising waste
Conduct regular audits and maintain accurate compliance records
Engage with residents to gather feedback and tailor menus accordingly
Introduce new ideas and dishes to enhance the dining experience
Collaborate with management to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery
About You:
Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef (care home or similar setting preferred)
Strong knowledge of nutrition, specialist diets, and food safety standards
Confident leader with excellent team management skills
Skilled in menu planning for varied dietary requirements
Highly organised with experience managing budgets and stock
Passionate about delivering high-quality food and making a positive impact
