We are looking for an enthusiastic addition to join our medical administration team covering both administrative and reception duties. This is a part time role of 21 hours over 3 days.
Ideally all day on a Monday, Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon, however options could be discussed. Our core hours are 8am to 6.30pm.
The successful applicant will be highly efficient and organised with excellent computer and communication skills, both oral and written. You will require good interpersonal skills and flexibility to deal with a range of people and situations. Keyboard/computer skills essential. Applicants must have a flexible approach to working and be prepared to work additional hours, as and when required, to help cover periods of staff shortage.
Previous NHS experience is not essential but will be an advantage.
Main duties of the job
Administrative work includes but not limited to dealing with emails, prescription requests, new patient registrations, patient deductions. Reception work includes greeting patients in person at the front desk, booking of appointments in person and over the telephone, assisting the triage GP with arranging appointments.

Newbridge Surgery is on the western side of Bath looking after approx. 9000 patients.
We are in a recently refurbished purpose built building over 3 floors.

Job responsibilities
Administration
* To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures and CQC criteria.
* To work in accordance with written protocols
* Scan, read code, photocopy, administer mail and email as required
* To establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure.
* File patient records and correspondence in patient medical records.
* To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
* To maintain the computer clinical system in an accurate and secure manner.
* To assist with the gathering of statistics and information when required.
* To receive and dispatch mail and maintain a pending system.
Reception/Office
* Greeting patients in a friendly and open manner with dignity and respect
* Patient administration including prescriptions
* Keep patients updated on their access to appointments
* The good order, safety and CQC compliance of access to health care professionals, patient facilities and waiting areas
* Be able to cover all aspects of reception and office positions as required
Appointments
* Process appointment requests for today and future appointments from patients by telephone, message and in person.
* Deal with visits requests
Communications
* Process all aspects of patient services in accordance with practice guidelines.
* Entering and recovering data within data protection regulations
* Have a working knowledge of the telephone and message system, during and after hours, and procedures for email and web based systems

Qualifications
* Experience in a GP surgery
* Use of SystmOne TPP
