The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe administration andmanagement of systemic anti-cancer treatments (SACT), ensuring the higheststandards of patient care and adherence to protocols. You will workcollaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective,evidence-based cancer care.
Main duties of the job
Administer systemic anti-cancer treatmentssafely and effectively according to current protocols and guidelines.
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of SACT acrossmultiple tumour sites to include Haemato-oncology. Demonstrate advancedknowledge in all toxicities associated with SACT.
Work in collaboration with Lead SACT Nurse forNova -Deputy Clinical Director and Consultants in the development of clinicalprotocols, policies and guidelines.
Take responsibility for life-long learningthrough clinical supervision and performance development review meetings, maintaining of a professional portfolio, identifying ones own educationalneeds.
Responsible for own clinical practice withoutsupervision.
Monitor and assess patients before, during, andafter treatment, responding promptly to any adverse reactions or complications.
Maintain accurate, detailed patient records,ensuring compliance with legal and professional standards.
Participate in audit, quality assurance, andservice development initiatives to improve patient care and treatment outcomes.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of oncology/haematology nursing practices, treatment protocols, and current issues in healthcare.
Ensure compliance with infection controlpolicies, health and safety standards, and clinical governance frameworks.
Participate in incident investigations, clinicalaudits and service improvement Projects.

Job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Administer systemic anti-cancer treatments including chemotherapy and targeted therapies in line with national protocols and local policies
Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after treatment to identify and manage side effects and complications
Provide specialist advice and education to patients and their families about treatment plans, potential side effects, and symptom management
Collaborate closely with oncologists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated and holistic patient care
Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation and contribute to clinical audits and quality assurance activities
Support patients physical, psychological, and emotional wellbeing, referring to other support services as needed
Stay up to date with advances in oncology nursing and systemic therapies through continuous professional development

Person Specification
Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration
Proven experience in oncology/haematology nursing, particularly in administering systemic anti-cancer treatments
Comprehensive understanding of SACT/chemotherapy protocols, side effect management, and patient safety
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support patients and families empathetically
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centred care
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to oncology nursing
To act in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Councils (NMC) TheCode: Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses, midwives andnursing associates and to be accountable for own clinical practice andprofessional actions at all times.
Ensure continued and effective registration with the NMC.

Qualifications
* Active registration with the NMC
* Degree in Nursing or related subject
* Recognised Teaching and Assessing qualification, mentoring skills
* Masters degree in Nursing or related subject or equivalent experience at this level
Experience
* Post-registration experience within a relevant speciality
* SACT qualification or working towards one
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Willingness to undertake all relevant training
* Awareness of current healthcare issues
