Venous Access Nurse

The post holder will be a qualified nurse with extensive nursing experience within the field of vascular nursing. They will have a record of career‑long learning and education and will require highly developed leadership, interpersonal relationship, and communication skills.
To ensure the provision of equitable specialist nursing care for patients, the post holder will oversee deep vein cannulae placement, mid‑line inserts, and PICC line placement.
To provide clinical support and expert nursing advice for all staff placing and caring for patients who require venous access.
The post holder will manage a caseload of patients and work to ensure patients receive expert nursing advice and care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will manage a clinical caseload and client group within the vascular access setting.
Provide ongoing support service for both patients and carers.
Act as a key worker for all patients requiring line placement.
Provide clinical expertise to primary/secondary care staff regarding the care of patients in this specialist group, acting as a resource for health care professionals, patients, and carers.
Communicate treatment options and process.
Work with colleagues to develop patient information within the specialty, acting as an advocate on behalf of both service users and carers when necessary.
Provide physical, psychological, and emotional support.
Develop specialist protocols for regular monitoring and management.
Comply with infection prevention policies and attend any appropriate training requirements in line with the Trust’s responsibility to comply with government directives.
Facilitate and develop clinical practice amongst staff caring for patients with line placement so that their needs are met in a timely and sensitive manner, underpinned by specialist expertise, evidence‑based practice and research findings.
Maintain professional development whilst acting as an autonomous practitioner and adhering to recognised standards (NMC) for specialist nurses.

Experience
* Previous Midline Insertion
* Experience of working across hospital and community settings
* Evidence of CPD
Qualifications & Training
* NMC level 1 registration
* Degree/Diploma
* Clinical Skills qualification or willingness to undertake
* Recognised Teaching Certificate
