The Quality Controller is responsible for carrying out checks to ensure that all products are produced to the relevant specifications and quality standards, following company procedures to ensure site food safety, legality, and quality policies are implemented and adhered to.
Key Result Areas:
1. Ensure all start-up checks are completed by the production team BEFORE production begins, and report any issues to the relevant department.
2. Visually inspect that the production area and machinery are hygienically clean before starting production.
3. Calibrate checkweighers before production (where applicable).
4. Conduct quality inspections of products against specifications and standards.
5. Ensure correct visual standards are displayed at all times.
6. Perform audits of quality and food safety checks, including label checks, metal detector checks, weight checks, start-up checks, traceability, and temperature recordings.
7. Collect samples from every production run.
8. Check product safety, legality, and quality at the start, end, and during production runs.
9. Sign off relevant paperwork within 30 minutes of the end of each run.
10. Perform calibration checks as applicable.
11. Identify non-conforming products and processes, informing the Quality Technician and/or Manager promptly.
12. Support production operatives and team leaders to meet quality standards.
13. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and Food Hygiene standards.
14. Report issues during shifts in the Daily Shift Report to relevant departments when applicable.
15. Accurately collect and file all relevant paperwork at shift end.
16. Verify completion of metal detector checks and associated paperwork at start and end of runs.
17. Perform additional tasks as allocated by Technical Management based on business needs.

2. Ensure products meet specifications, quality standards, and control processes.
3. Verify trained operatives conduct metal detection checks per procedures.
4. Complete checks on products and paperwork promptly.
5. Highlight non-conforming paperwork and processes.
6. Communicate issues clearly for corrective actions.
7. Minimize rejected products related to quality, weight, or labeling issues.
