Senior Cloud Automation Engineer

We are looking for a skilled and forward‑thinking Cloud Automation Engineer to lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of automation and optimisation solutions across Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. You will play a key role in improving system reliability, scalability and cost‑effectiveness through modern automation practices and Infrastructure as Code.

This role is home based with occasional travel to Gosport or Glasgow when required.
What you'll be doing:
1. Designing, building and implementing cloud automation solutions that improve reliability, scalability and operational efficiency.
2. Leading automation and optimisation initiatives across Azure and OCI to enhance performance and resource utilisation.
3. Identifying opportunities to reduce operational overhead and improve cost‑efficiency through automation and cloud optimisation.
4. Analysing existing environments and processes to uncover strategic automation opportunities and quick optimisation wins.
5. Developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code and automation frameworks using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
6. Supporting the delivery of secure and compliant cloud solutions within UK public sector environments.
What you’ll bring:
7. Experience working with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
8. Strong knowledge of automation and Infrastructure as Code tooling, especially Terraform and Ansible.
9. Proven ability to design and implement scalable cloud automation and optimisation solutions.
10. Experience developing scripts, reusable frameworks and automated deployment solutions.
11. Analytical problem‑solving skills with the ability to spot and deliver practical opportunities for improvement.
12. Ability to provide technical leadership through mentoring, guidance and knowledge sharing.

Employment Type: Full‑time, Permanent.
Location: Home based with occasional travel to Gosport or Glasgow.

Salary: £45,000 – £55,000.
