Are you an inspiring Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teacher ready to motivate and engage students in their language learning journey?
GSL Education are recruiting for a passionate MFL Teacher to join a supportive mainstream secondary school in Portsmouth, Hampshire, starting September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent role offering a salary between £30,000 and £50,000 per annum, depending on experience. Applications are welcomed from Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) holders, Early Career Teachers (ECTs), and suitably qualified overseas-trained teachers.
This is an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality teaching in modern foreign languages, helping students develop confidence and fluency in communication, while promoting cultural awareness.
Responsibilities of a Teacher of MFL:
* Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in one or more modern foreign languages (French, Spanish, German, etc.)
* Teach across Key Stages, supporting students of varying abilities to achieve progress
* Monitor and assess pupil performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance
* Foster enthusiasm for languages and cultural understanding within the classroom
* Maintain excellent classroom management in line with school policies
* Work collaboratively with colleagues within the MFL department and across the wider school
* Contribute to extracurricular opportunities such as language clubs, trips, or cultural events
* Stay updated with curriculum changes and adopt best practices in teaching MFL
Requirements for an MFL Teacher:
* QTS, ECT, or overseas-qualified teacher status
* A degree in French, German, Spanish, or a related subject area
* Experience working as an MFL Teacheracross secondary schools.
* Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for teaching languages
* Ability to inspire students and encourage progress at all ability levels
* Excellent communication and classroom management skills
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
* Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
