About the Role
As a Progression Mentor, you will provide dedicated, holistic support to learners across the college, ensuring their engagement, progression, and wellbeing are prioritised. You’ll play a key role in improving attendance, academic outcomes, and personal development through proactive intervention and advocacy.
Your work will focus on supporting learners with mental health challenges, complex social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and those with caring responsibilities. You’ll collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to create a positive, inclusive learning environment.

* Build strong, trusting relationships with learners to identify and overcome barriers to success.
* Develop tailored mentoring and support plans for learners with diverse needs.
* Deliver engaging group sessions on wellbeing, resilience, and personal development.
* Monitor attendance and academic progress, intervening early to prevent disengagement.
* Work closely with safeguarding teams to ensure learners are safe and supported.
* Advocate for learners in multi-agency meetings and disciplinary processes.
* Maintain accurate records and evaluate the impact of support strategies.

English and Maths at Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent) and a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or a related field.
* Experience:
Proven background in supporting learners with mental health challenges and SEMH needs, plus experience in educational or support settings.
