Nurture Education is working with a large, friendly, and high-performing secondary school in Wandsworth to recruit a proactive and skilled Design & Technology Technician.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands‑on and organised Design & Technology Technician to support a busy Art and DT faculty across multiple disciplines.
About the Role
As a Design & Technology Technician, you will be one of two technicians supporting a dynamic department. The successful Design & Technology Technician will play a key role in ensuring practical lessons run smoothly and safely, while supporting both staff and students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
Key Responsibilities
* Support teachers in delivering the DT curriculum across Product Design, Graphics, Art Textiles, and Food
* Assist students with practical project work as a Design & Technology Technician
* Order, manage, and maintain stock, materials, and ingredients
* Use and maintain workshop tools and machinery (including laser cutter, scroll saws, vac former, and band saw)
* Maintain DT workshops, classrooms, and kitchen spaces
* Ensure all Health & Safety protocols are followed
* Support the secure storage of exam work
* Organise displays and exhibitions of student work
* Administer cover work for absent teachers
What We’re Looking For
* Ideally Health & Safety trained (Secondary Core H&S within the last 5 years)
* Degree and/or relevant practical experience in a related field
* CAD/CAM proficiency desirable
* Strong organisational and multitasking skills
* Confident communicator with a proactive approach
* Experience working as a Design & Technology Technician or in a similar practical role is highly desirable
Important Information
* This is a long‑term temporary role with potential to become permanent, though this is not guaranteed
* The successful Design & Technology Technician will be paid through Nurture Education (agency), not directly by the school
