An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse position within Surgical Ward 6. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic individual who is passionate about surgical nursing to join our team.
Surgical ward 6 is a 20-bedded surgical ward caring for acute and elective surgical patients.
This ward specialises in urology and general surgery. The patients are admitted from Emergency Department, clinics, theatre, ITU and other surgical wards. The environment is highly acute and challenging but has a lot of scope to learn and assist your knowledge to progress to other speciality posts.
We are keen to help support and develop nurses interested in working in a fast paced, changeable environment.

The post holder will form part of the team to lead on the delivery of high-quality evidence-based care for both patients and their families and carers. The post holder must be equipped to give high quality care, use specialist surgical knowledge and prioritise workload.

Main duties of the job
You must be a clinical expert through formal education or have clinical expertise pertinent to surgery including post-operative care. If you possess the necessary qualities to lead and manage this innovative environment we would love to hear from you.
You must have excellent customer care, communication and interpersonal skills and be flexible and able to adapt to and support change in this growing and developing environment. You will participate in the national and local audit used to identify ways we can maintain and improve the care we offer our patients.
·To deliver high quality, evidence-based and patient focused clinical care.
·To work effectively as part of the immediate team and wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT)
·To uphold a duty of care and clinical governance to maintain own and others’ knowledge of clinical excellence
·The post holder has a general duty of care for their own health, safety and wellbeing and that of work colleagues, visitors and patients within the hospital, in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with this post.
