Job Description:
Role and Responsibilities:
1. HVAC System Engineering Service consists in and/or support all activities performed by engineers in the HVAC Systems team. Those activities comprise:
1. System design and system integration into overall HPC design
2. Review and update the system documentation, as well as formulating the mechanical, electrical, nuclear safety, and control logic requirements in compliance with the engineering rules, methodologies, quality processes, and tools
3. Analysis and verification of input data, requirements, and lessons learnt from other stations
4. Sizing of components pumps, pipework, fans, tanks, performing thermal-hydraulic calculation and modeling with in house or commercial tools
5. Support to procurement team in formulation of technical specification and supplier surveillance
6. Technical/peer checking of reports and other technical documentation
7. Ensuring technical content provided in compliance with the quality process and engineering guidelines
8. Work on and advise on technical topics
9. Solve technically challenging and multi-disciplinary issues in a timely proactive manner
10. Provide guidance and advice to overall team on technical topics
11. Modification and configuration management
12. Managing requests for modifications to system(s) checking their applicability
13. Develop and present technical solutions suitable for all impacted disciplines that support design stability strategy
14. Participation in the Handover strategy of systems
15. Attend kick-off meeting and maturity reviews
16. Review and analysis of handed-over system’s modifications and configuration management
17. Support procurement and layout teams with system inputs needed to the contractual instructions during the handover sequence
18. Proactive and positive engagement with all stakeholders around the HVAC systems to ensure the delivery of a product meeting the requirements set by all disciplines (layout, civil, hazard, nuclear safety, environment, configuration management, procurement …)
2. Required Technical Skills:
1. Essential:
2. Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
3. 3+ years’ experience of process engineering
4. Ability to effectively manage own workload in order to produce high-quality documents and respect deadlines
5. Excellent interpersonal skills
6. Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both written and orally, in English
7. Proactive and confident in communicating with others, particularly those based in remote offices including France, and Germany
8. Proactive in developing positive working relations with others within the project
9. Continuously looking for opportunities to improve the quality of engineering studies and the subsequent documentation produced
10. Desirable:
11. Knowledge of EPR system design principles, Instrumentation and Control architecture, and Safety Classification
12. Relevant experience in the nuclear industry
13. Experience of working on an operating plant or on an industrial site
14. Fluent in English
15. Ability to speak and write technical documents in French
3. Profile:
Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline. Experience of working in an equivalent or related role, within HVAC, ideally in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment. Meticulous and rigorous approach to engineering, with great attention to detail. Ability to work autonomously but with awareness of own limitations. Knowledge of contractual and commercial mechanisms. A strong influencer with strong leadership values. A good team player. Experience within a nuclear field would be beneficial.
