Marketing Manager @ Freight Island Manchester
Reporting into : Associate Director of Marketing
Location: 11 Baring Street, Manchester
Working week: Monday - Friday 09.00 - 17.00
Occasional evenings & 1 weekend per month (trade dependant) required due to the nature of our industry. Days worked beyond 5/7 are given as TOIL (days off to be taken in lieu during week)
We’re looking for an experienced and ambitious marketing manager to join the team at Freight Island. We need a creative, proactive, and self-motivated individual with a passion for hospitality marketing and event marketing.
You’re digital-first and fluent in CRM. You’ll have an eye for design and a love for systems and processes. You’re passionate about hospitality, and love to get involved with events. You’ll have strong copywriting skills and understand a tone of voice that resonates with customers.
Your role will be to drive forward the day-to-day marketing of Freight Island which revolves around two main themes.
1) Event marketing – Freight Island hosts events throughout the year. Everything from festival style weekenders, through to comedy shows, live band dates, DJ led late night parties & more. A key part of your role will be to support in the promotion of these events, to drive ticket sales and footfall.
2) Hospitality marketing – As one of the biggest F&B destinations in Manchester, Freight Island hosts 12 kitchens and 8 bars. Another key part of your role is the continuous promotion of Freight Island as a destination for F&B, working closely with our many food traders to deliver exciting campaigns to present their menus.
This role would be perfect for someone who loves and is used to a fast paced, busy environment where managing many workstreams at the same time is the norm. The perfect candidate is used to working with creatives (designers, writers, photographers, videographers etc) a nd thrives as a member of a collaborative team.
The ideal candidate will be confident in a mix of marketing disciplines, and have a solid understanding of email marketing and content / campaign management.

Freight Island is a cultural hub of food, drink and entertainment located amongst the historical industrial architecture in the heart of Depot Mayfield, Manchester.
The multidimensional venue has transformed itself into one of the UK’s most exciting urban market and entertainment spaces, much more than a food hall.
Freight Island is moving into an expansion phase and has plans to launch in other cities over the next 12 months (more news soon!). This is an exciting role where you will be joining the company at a pivotal moment; contributing towards the growth and development of one of the UK’s most exciting hospitality brands.

Salary : £35,000 – £40,000 DOE + bonus

Responsibilities
* To implement the day-to-day actions as part of the broader marketing strategy at Freight Island
* Develop marketing campaigns across content, email, digital and social channels.
* Support in delivering the promotional marketing activity for our venues, seeing ideas through from concept generation to production and implementation.
* Hands on marketing support at our venues to help create and deliver world-class content.
* Building and implementing creative marketing campaigns to grow brand awareness and drive bookings/footfall to Freight Island
* Editor-in-chief of our brand newsletters, creating, writing, and scheduling external communications to guests.
* Working with videographers, content creators, and graphic designers
* Support with centrally organised campaigns, events, promotions and communications.
* Management of our online presence (Google, Trip Advisor, etc…)
* Provide weekly reports on marketing and comms performance.
* Working with the many food traders at Freight Island to create engaging and exciting marketing campaigns around their menus.
* Working alongside our partner agencies (PR agency, paid media agency)
* Working with external promoters to support the marketing of their events at Freight Island
* Managing the website and making sure event listings are up to date.
* Working with our website development partners to get the best out of our website.
* Setting up tickets with our ticketing partner platforms
* Building and sending newsletters
* Management of our email database
* This role may require work outside of normal hours / on weekends, if necessary
Experience Required
* 4+ years marketing experience in either hospitality or events (or both!)
* Experience in executing holistic marketing campaigns (across email, social, PR, print, digital)
* Knowledge of CRM platforms such as Me&U, Mailchimp and DesignMyNight
* Proven work experience in digital marketing, events marketing, or hospitality marketing
* Organised, creative with excellent analytical abilities
* Ability to drive processes and projects and become the go to person for all members of the team. You do not need to line manage people or teams for them to see you as a leader and take your direction.
* Experience of writing briefs for creatives and holding teams accountable to deliver against briefs.
* Excellent written English and experience in marketing copywriting
