Job overview

Trust Grade STr Equivalent Doctor in Cardiology

Location: York Hospital

Duration: Fixed term for 12 months starting April 2025

Full Time

We welcome applicants interested in building a career within the NHS, including current trainees exploring future options. We have supported many Trust Grade posts to progress into formal training and career positions.

Requirements: Full GMC registration and license to practice, current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification, and a minimum of 12 months NHS experience at the start date.

Ideal candidates will have completed the IMT programme or equivalent, with experience in leadership, service management, and rota management.


Main duties of the job

While these are not recognized NHS/UK training posts, we aim to provide similar development opportunities, including:

* Named clinical supervisor
* Local induction and training information
* Personal Development Plan and annual appraisal
* Funding and paid time for study leave (£500/year)
* Support for obtaining certificates to meet foundation competencies

Post-holders will join supportive clinical teams, with opportunities for professional development and participation in audits. The post may involve rotation within specialties.

Person specification


Qualifications and experience

* MBChB or equivalent
* Completion of foundation year 2 competencies or equivalent
* European ALS certificate
* At least 12 months experience in medicine specialties


Desirable

* IMT training or equivalent experience
* Minimum 12 months NHS experience


Eligibility

* GMC registration and license to practice


Communication & Interpersonal Skills

* Effective written and spoken English
* Teamwork experience


Desirable

* Strong communication skills evidence

All new employees will be charged for DBS checks if required, with costs deducted from salary. The charges are £27.38 for standard and £55.38 for enhanced checks. Volunteers and bank staff are exempt. The DBS offers a sensitive applications route for transgender applicants.
