Overview
As a Payroll Specialist you will be working in a team of four. You will join the Group Payroll Team who are responsible for all payroll activity across 12 trading entities, collaborating closely with Finance, HR, and employees to ensure the most efficient and effective outcomes.
Key Objectives and Responsibilities
* Accurately prepare and process payroll data into Sage 50 Cloud Payroll including but not limited to starters, leavers, T&Cs changes, absences, SSP, SMP, commissions, overtime, mileage, pensions, court orders in the required timescales
* Compile payroll variance files in preparation for peer review and sign off
* Manage payroll related queries from across the business, acting as a point of contact for employees, operational Managers, and the People Hub
* Upload contribution files to the pension provider portal
* Cross check the integrity of payroll entries processed into Sage
* Support month and year end processes, including P60 and P11D
* Ensure compliance with approved company, statutory and regulatory policies / procedures
* Collaborate with the finance team to align payroll reporting requirements
* Assist with any related Payroll admin tasks as required, including the implementation of new processes, using your initiative to identify process improvements
Key Skills And Qualifications
* Detailed understanding of the full payroll cycle including Benefit in Kind taxation, P11D processing and National Minimum Wage
* Broad understanding of pensions, including auto enrolment, relief at source and salary sacrifice
* An “in-house” Payroll background with the ability to work in a fast based environment (Payroll qualification or certification desirable)
* Experience using Sage 50 Cloud Payroll (desirable)
* Strong numerical and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
* Effective organisational skills with ability to flex between work as required
* Ability to articulate in a professional way with excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Capable of managing confidential information with discretion
* Competent user of Excel
* A team player – happy to get “stuck in”
