Who You Are The ideal candidate will be an experienced Commercial Vehicle Technician with a level 3 qualification, possessing a comprehensive understanding of vehicle maintenance, repairs, and inspections. You should have a strong background in supporting transport service within a council or similar environment, with the capability to work independently and as part of a team. Essential qualifications include NVQ 3 in Heavy Motor Vehicle, VOSA accreditation for MoT testing, and a current LGV Category C driving licence. What the Job Involves In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the council’s vehicle fleet as well as third-party vehicles and plant equipment. Key tasks include inspecting, diagnosing faults, servicing, and repairing vehicles to ensure they are roadworthy and compliant with legislation. You will also perform MoT testing, manage administrative tasks related to fleet operations, and support health and safety compliance. The role involves working split shifts and providing standby cover, supporting the Transport Workshop team in promoting a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring financial and operational performance targets are met.
