Overview and Responsibilities

Primary trained KS3 teacher in a new SEN provision

Location: Horsham, West Sussex

Contract Type: Permanent, full-time

Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: £32,916 - £47,742 (M1 – UPS1)*

Start Date: 13th April 2026

Closing Date: Noon Friday 6th February

The Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher who is trained as a primary teacher who can teach in Key Stage 3 with an initial focus on year 7 where the students work within a primary model. Whilst many of our students are capable of working at or above age expectations, they often have gaps in their learning and so the ability to teach the key stage 2 outcomes is important. Key to this role is the pastoral responsibility for supporting the wellbeing of our young people and using a holistic approach to supporting them closely liaising with our therapists and SEND team. Our students are hoping for a teacher who is patient, fun and wants to understand them.

Skills and Qualifications

It is preferable for candidates to have experience:

1. of teaching in a SEND provision or working collaboratively with a SENDCO
2. in pastoral support to students with high anxiety
3. working with students aged 11-16

Candidates must:

4. be a qualified primary trained teacher
5. have a passion to work in SEND and willingness to keep learning
6. be outstanding in their pastoral and safeguarding practice
7. believe in an integrated therapeutic approach
8. be committed to becoming a neuro-informed and neuro-affirmative practitioner
9. have the empathy and resilience to work with young people who may experience high anxiety and may have self-harming behaviours, ARFID and disordered eating, and a range of mental health difficulties.
