Regional Central Sterile Manager -(Full-Time)
The Regional Central Sterile Manager has oversight of all OSS CSSD locations across the health system. Ensures the quality, safety and standardization of sterile processes within CSSD. The Manager will be well versed in regulatory requirements as deemed by TJC and DOH, HPSA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association), and CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution). The Manager will act as a leader for all Central Sterile locations to ensure the facility maintains adequate and timely availability of resources for medical and surgical support. Oversees the daily activities of the Central Sterile Supervisors and their Teams within all of OSS Health (including hospital, ASC, Pain Center, Good Hope ASC). The Manager will create yearly competencies and education requirements and ensure timely completion of competencies and educational opportunities for all staff.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
Education:
* High school diploma or GED required
* Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare related field preferred
Experience/Qualifications:
* Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)
* 2 years of Supervisor experience required
* 5 years of Central Sterile or Perioperative Services experience
* 2 years of Central Sterile Education experience
* Previous experience in both hospital and outpatient Central Sterile preferred
* Experience in budget responsibility of Central Sterile units
* Computer proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets required
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written are required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Oversees the daily operations of the central sterile team.
* Responsible for daily staffing model across the regional central sterile locations.
* Responsible for all yearly competency completions across the central sterile team.
* Prepares annual unit budgets, operational plans and performance improvement goals for the central sterile units.
* Ensures proper orientation and education for each team member. Implements and plans education to any new product or process.
* Assist with any mass changes to sets/trays and physician preference cards to confirm items being charged/inventoried are correct, working in conjunction with Materials Management.
* Assists in management of vendor process and management of vendor trays in conjunction with Perioperative Director and Materials Management Director.
* Ensures proper process for equipment testing on all required central sterile devices.
* Responsible for implementing tracking processes for surgical instrumentation.
* Maintains and monitors instrumentation budget and ordering of needed instrumentation.
* Promote open communication within all departments to foster a positive, cohesive work environment.
* Serve as a resource in areas of expertise to other staff.
* Foster effective public relations for the hospital.
* Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Oversight of personnel in the Central Sterile area on a daily basis. Reports to the Director of Perioperative Services. Direct reports include Central Sterile Supervisors.
* Communicate to Leadership any pertinent events or issues.
* Interpret, research and revise/create policies and procedures according to standards. Provide leadership and direction in accordance with these policies and procedures.
* Yearly performance evaluations for assigned staff.
* Develops and reports on quality scorecards/dashboards/reports for the department.
* Actively involved in management meetings, committees and appropriate in-services.
* Remains involved with professional organizations and maintains clinical, managerial and administrative skills.
* Analyzes and reports the operational budgets, capital budget, supply budget, and array of operational data.
* Monitors performance against established financial benchmarks, provides accurate and timely financial reports, and makes recommendations for improvement in performance.
* Ensures high customer satisfaction. Communicates and partners with other leadership to achieve improved operational and financial outcomes.
* Encourages a culture that promotes staff productivity. Utilizes interpersonal skills to facilitate communication and teamwork between departments, health care workers, patients and families.
* Ensures the unit runs efficiently and as per Joint Commission and DOH standards and regulations.
* Assisting in managing and submitting timecards as needed.
* Research major expenditures (including equipment, supplies and/or systems) and make recommendations to the appropriate member(s) of management for approval to purchase.
* Functions as a coach & mentor to the staff for whom this position is responsible.
* Participates in and/or supports the employment process in conjunction with the Human Resources Department.
* Submits requests for staffing needs on a thorough and timely basis, securing all necessary approval(s).
* Participates in the screening/interviewing process, making self available to meet the candidates’ needs to expedite the screening process.
* Develops and/or maintains on-going training programs/initiatives to enhance skills, knowledge and productivity of existing employees.
* Provides leadership and direction to the staff for whom responsible in order to maintain a work environment that promotes the creative development of ideas and allows employees to meet and/or exceed expectations and established standards of performance.
* Other duties as assigned.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be proficient in the English language, both verbally and written, in order to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians, vendors, and the general public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Moderate physical effort when working in patient care environment consisting of standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and stooping. Moderate sitting and keyboarding along with fine and gross motor skills and manual dexterity to operate keyboard and other equipment. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to an emergency.

Climate controlled environment with occasional periods of being outside. Subject to stressful situations, long or irregular hours.
