Our client is a well-established privately owned manufacturer specialising in plastic and composite solutions for a wide range of industries. With capabilities across injection moulding, extrusion, vacuum forming, and tooling, the business supplies components to major customers within sectors including automotive, aerospace, medical, construction, retail, and utilities.
Due to continued growth and increasing customer demand, they are looking to strengthen their production leadership team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring production activities are completed in line with schedule, quality standards, and operational targets. This role also carries responsibility for the safety, performance, and day-to-day coordination of production staff on shift.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver effective shift handovers in collaboration with the opposing Shift Leader to ensure continuity across production.
2. Lead start-of-shift briefings to communicate priorities, production targets, and daily KPIs to Operators.
3. Coordinate shift break schedules to maintain operational efficiency.
4. Oversee first-off and last-off quality checks, ensuring all relevant production information is communicated before runs commence.
5. Monitor shop floor activity to ensure safe working practices, quality standards, and operational performance are consistently maintained.
6. Support, coach, and train operators to develop flexibility and capability across multiple production processes.
7. Ensure production or quality issues are escalated promptly and resolved efficiently.
8. Investigate and document accidents, incidents, and near misses relating to Health & Safety.
9. Provide regular production updates to planning and management teams throughout the shift.
10. Escalate attendance, conduct, or performance concerns within the team to management when required.
11. Maintain accurate production and system updates throughout the shift using MRP/production systems.
12. Assist with holiday planning and absence management within the team.
13. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, cost reduction opportunities, and process enhancements.
14. Promote high housekeeping standards and support 5S workplace organisation practices.
Candidate Profile
15. Previous experience within plastic injection moulding or a similar manufacturing environment.
16. Strong understanding of quality standards and production processes.
17. Proven experience in a shop-floor leadership or supervisory role with the ability to motivate teams and drive performance.
18. Health & Safety qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely would be advantageous.
19. Clear communicator with the confidence to provide instruction, raise concerns, and support team development.
20. Observant, proactive, and quality-focused approach to work.
21. Comfortable identifying opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencies.
22. Positive team player with a supportive and collaborative working style.
